Digital Earth Africa (DE Africa) participated at the inaugural SPACE UNGANA 2023, held on 10-12 July 2023, at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Nairobi, Kenya. The objective was to launch the Omni Africa Space Exploration Analog Simulation (OASEAS) initiative of the Futures Forum Africa, on the goal of the OASEAS Research Education and Training Ungana (Space Ungana), Further, providing exchanges in exploring opportunities and challenges in the space industry ecosystem and identify strategies for building capacity to advance the African Space Agenda for 2063. The 3-day Forum featured selected keynotes, roundtable dialogues, panel discussions, lightning talks, and unique networking opportunities including participants from Space Agencies (Bahrain, Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Paraguay), academia, and civil based society (CSO). 

DE Africa Capacity Development Lead, Dr Kenneth Mubea, participated at the session Partnering For Peace & Prosperity (Research Institutes, Universities, NGOs). The session was moderated by Enanga Daisy Fale (Space Futures Forum) and speakers were from CorpsAfrica-Kenya, University of Nairobi, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Centre for Global Africa - Delaware State University and Matsunaga Institute for Peace at the University of Hawaii and Trustee with the NAACP Foundation. DE Africa provided an overview of the program and how it is empowering countries to access analysis ready data (ARD), and make informed decisions across all sectors from agriculture, water resources and natural resource management. In addition, DE Africa talked about engagement on Diversity and Inclusion including engagement with Africa Women in GIS mentorship program and YouthMappers Technical Challenge 2022.
